Tutor a student or adult with dyslexia or other language- based learning disability.
Dyslexia Tutoring Program provides tutoring support for low-income children and adults who are dyslexic or have a language-based learning disability.
1 hour a week for about a year/year and a half (60 hours required). Volunteers will tutor the same student for the duration of the program.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma. Volunteers must provide 3 references, complete an application, and agree to a background check. Free training (30 hours) in the Orton-Gillingham method is required (in-person in Hampden, Baltimore City, plus virtual options). Interviews are required.
Baltimore City/Downtown; must take place in a public/community space (library, rec center, etc). or the Dyslexia Tutoring Program’s office in Hampden.
